Job Title: Freelance Shopify Specialist, CRO and Store Operations

About the Company:

Our client is a retention marketing agency that runs email, SMS, and onsite conversion programs for direct-to-consumer ecommerce brands.

Job Description:

You will be the hands-on Shopify expert for a small group of our client's direct-to-consumer clients. Some clients run multiple stores and sell in different currencies. Our client's CRO team creates testing strategies and recommendations. You will implement these on the live store, handling promotions, pricing, storefront builds, and the technical aspects of running tests. This role involves direct client interaction. You will join client calls with the account producer to discuss promotion setups, explain test results, and answer technical store questions. Your work should make things easier for clients, not harder. Mistakes should never be caught by the client.

Responsibilities of the role:

• Set up, schedule, and check discount codes, automatic discounts, and sale pricing with exact start and end times in each client's time zone.

• Follow each client's standard promotion rules, such as extending a discount for shoppers in other time zones.

• Manage compare-at (strikethrough) pricing and scheduled markdowns across Shopify Markets and multiple currencies. This includes varying discount percentages by product category and restoring prices afterward.

• Configure and check markdown and pricing apps, understanding their capabilities before recommending one.

• Build and edit theme sections, templates, homepage takeovers, and promotion landing pages using Liquid, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, based on provided designs or specifications.

• Implement CRO improvements from recommendations, such as variant swatches, review stars on product pages, a sticky mobile add-to-cart bar, cross-sell modules, and first-time buyer banners.

• Set up and check A/B tests in tools like Visually, and confirm tracking and Klaviyo onsite events are firing correctly before launch.

• Build changes on unpublished or duplicate themes, and publish only after approval.

• Test checkout using Shopify Payments test mode or the Bogus Gateway. Never use a personal card to place a real order.

• Never issue refunds, edit orders, change payment settings, or handle store finances without the client's written approval.

• Keep a written record of each client's standard rules (time zones, sale windows, discount end times) and check every new task against it.

• Join regular and promotion-planning calls with clients alongside the producer, typically a few times a month.

• Explain technical tradeoffs in simple terms, like the difference between an app upgrade and a manual setup, including the time and cost involved.

• Confirm all requirements verbally on calls (dates, times, time zones, currencies, discount levels), and then document them in Asana the same day.

• Present QA proof and test results so clients can see the work has been checked without needing to do it themselves.

• Remain calm and focused on solutions when a client is frustrated, and immediately report any relationship concerns to your Sticky leads.

Required Experience and Qualifications:

• 3 or more years of hands-on Shopify experience, including theme development and daily store operations.

• Deep understanding of Shopify discounts, compare-at pricing, Shopify Markets, and multi-currency setups.

• Proven experience running high-volume promotions, like Black Friday/Cyber Monday, on live stores without issues.

• Knowledge of standard methods for testing checkout without charging a real card, and consistent use of these methods.

• Strong skills in Liquid, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, with a mobile-first approach.

• Experience implementing CRO tests and onsite changes for direct-to-consumer brands.

• A disciplined approach to quality assurance (QA), with clear and confident written and verbal communication skills for live client calls.

• Ability to commit 15 to 20 hours per month, with availability during weeks around major promotions.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with Visually or similar CRO and personalization platforms.

• Familiarity with Klaviyo forms and onsite tracking.

• Experience managing multiple Shopify stores for the same business.

• Background working with beauty or professional-supply brands.

Personality:

• You are calm and solutions-focused when clients are frustrated.

• You are disciplined and have a strong habit of checking your work.

• You communicate clearly and confidently.

• You are proactive in identifying and reporting risks.

Software & Tools:

• Shopify (Admin, Markets, Payments test mode, theme editor and CLI)

• Visually

• Figma

• Asana

• Slack

• Klaviyo

• Loom

Schedule:

15 to 20 hours per month (to start)

Ongoing term, starting immediately.

• You report to Sticky's CRO team leads, who set priorities and review your work.

• On client calls, you work alongside the account producer.

• Every request, estimate, and approval is managed in Asana.

• Respond to Slack messages within 4 business hours.

• Live-site issues during a promotion receive a same-day response.

• Log time against every task.

• Flag any task that is expected to exceed its estimate before it does.

Salary and Benefits:

• Payment in USD or Local Currency according to candidate's preference.

• Full-time remote opportunity.
