Job Description:
We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Bookkeeper to manage financial records across multiple business entities. This is a full-time, fully remote contractor position supporting a growing organization with a complex multi-entity structure.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience with Xero, a solid understanding of U.S. accounting standards, and a proven track record managing bookkeeping functions for multiple entities simultaneously. This role requires someone who can work independently, identify issues proactively, and maintain accurate, CPA-ready financial records.
Engagement Type: Full-time, fully remote, 1099 contractor.
Responsibilities of the role:
• Maintain accurate financial records across multiple business entities.
• Manage day-to-day bookkeeping activities for all assigned entities.
• Prepare monthly financial statements and reports.
• Perform monthly bank and account reconciliations.
• Set up, maintain, and optimize reconciliation rules within Xero.
• Record and maintain journal entries.
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
• Ensure books remain organized, accurate, and CPA-ready.
• Monitor financial data and proactively identify discrepancies or issues.
• Maintain compliance with applicable accounting standards and internal procedures.
Required Experience and Qualifications:
• Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar accounting role.
• Demonstrated experience managing bookkeeping for multiple entities.
• Advanced proficiency with Xero.
• Strong understanding of U.S. accounting principles, including cash and accrual accounting methods and GAAP fundamentals.
• Experience preparing reconciliations and financial reports.
• Strong English communication skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Availability to maintain meaningful overlap with U.S. Eastern business hours.
Preferred Skills:
• Experience supporting U.S.-based small businesses.
• Familiarity with Stripe and payroll platforms.
• Experience with contractor payment platforms.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
