Job Description:
The Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) / Financial Operations Analyst is responsible for providing leadership with clear financial visibility, identifying opportunities for improved financial performance, and developing actionable recommendations to support business decisions. This role combines financial analysis, accounting oversight, cost optimization, and operational improvement. The analyst will evaluate company financial activity, identify unnecessary or inefficient spending, strengthen financial controls, and improve the systems and processes used to monitor financial and operational performance.
The primary objective of this position is to move beyond traditional accounting and provide management with a deeper understanding of where company resources are being spent, where financial inefficiencies exist, what can be improved, and what actions should be taken. The FP&A / Financial Operations Analyst serves as a financial decision-support resource for executive leadership, helping transform financial data into measurable operational improvements, stronger controls, and better-informed business decisions.
Responsibilities of the role:
• Prepare, maintain, and analyze company Profit & Loss.
• Conduct ongoing audits and reviews of accounting records, expenses, vendors, subscriptions, and other company expenditures.
• Identify wasted, unnecessary, duplicate, or inefficient spending and provide recommendations for corrective action and cost reduction.
• Perform financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
• Develop and monitor financial KPIs that provide leadership with meaningful visibility into company performance.
• Review financial processes and controls for accuracy, consistency, and operational efficiency.
• Recommend and implement improvements to financial workflows, reporting systems, and internal processes.
• Identify opportunities to automate financial reporting and operational review processes, reducing manual work and improving accuracy.
• Develop dashboards, reports, and financial models that support data-driven decision-making.
• Work across departments to investigate financial discrepancies, unusual spending, and opportunities for operational improvement.
• Provide weekly financial and operational reports to the CEO, summarizing key findings, financial performance, concerns, cost-saving opportunities, and recommended actions.
• Track approved recommendations and initiatives to measure financial impact and ensure appropriate follow-through.
• Maintain organized documentation supporting financial analyses, audits, recommendations, and management reporting.
Required Experience and Qualifications:
• Experience in financial analysis, accounting, or a related field.
• Proven ability to identify cost-saving opportunities and improve financial performance.
• Strong understanding of financial statements, budgeting, and forecasting.
• Experience with financial controls and process improvement.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to develop and present financial reports and dashboards.
Preferred Skills:
• Experience with financial modeling and automation.
• Familiarity with various accounting software and ERP systems.
Personality:

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Software & Tools:
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced functions, pivot tables, etc.).
