Job Title: Paralegal
About the Company:
Our client is a staffing firm based in New York City with multiple offices across the United States. The company is seeking a highly detail-oriented Legal & Paralegal Assistant to support its in-house counsel with contract review, redlining, document management, and day-to-day legal administrative tasks. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced paralegal, legal professional, or attorney who is comfortable working with contracts and wants to support a U.S.-based organization.
Job Description:
The Legal & Paralegal Assistant will work closely with the company's in-house counsel and operations team, providing support throughout the contract lifecycle. The ideal candidate will have strong experience working with legal documents, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to identify potential issues or areas of concern in contracts. While a background in the staffing industry is a plus, it is not required. This role is not intended to replace the company's in-house counsel. Instead, the candidate will serve as a first line of review and administrative support, helping prepare contracts and identify potential issues before they reach final legal review.
Responsibilities of the role:
• Review contracts and agreements for formatting, consistency, and potential issues before they are reviewed by in-house counsel.
• Perform initial redlining and editing of contracts, including MSAs, staffing agreements, fee agreements, and related documents.
• Identify and flag important contractual provisions, particularly indemnification and other areas that may require further legal review.
• Assist with proofreading, document editing, and other legal document preparation.
• Manage the contract workflow, including uploading, sending, tracking, and organizing agreements through electronic signature platforms.
• Ensure that contract versions are properly tracked and that changes made by clients are identified and communicated to the appropriate team members.
• Save and organize finalized and working documents in SharePoint according to established naming and filing conventions.
• Maintain accurate records of contracts and related documentation.
• Support the in-house counsel with general legal and administrative tasks.
• Communicate professionally with internal teams and assist with contract-related follow-ups when needed.
• Raise questions or concerns when something appears inconsistent, unusual, or potentially problematic rather than simply processing the document.
Required Experience and Qualifications:
• 2+ years of experience as a Paralegal, Legal Assistant, Attorney, or in a similar legal support role.
• Experience reviewing, editing, proofreading, or redlining legal contracts.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word and the ability to efficiently manipulate and format legal documents.
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
• Ability to understand contractual language and identify issues that should be escalated to legal counsel.
• Strong organizational and document-management skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple documents and priorities.
• Comfortable communicating questions, concerns, and recommendations to legal and operational stakeholders.
• Experience working with U.S. companies or U.S.-based legal documents is preferred but not required.
• A law degree or legal qualification from any country is a plus, but a strong senior paralegal background may be equally suitable.
Preferred Skills:
• Experience working in the staffing or recruiting industry.
• Familiarity with Master Services Agreements (MSAs) and staffing agreements.
• Familiarity with indemnification provisions and other common contractual terms.
• Experience working with DocuSign, RightSignature, or similar electronic signature platforms.
• Experience with SharePoint or similar document management systems.
• Previous experience supporting an in-house legal department.
Personality:
• Exceptional attention to detail
• Critical thinking and sound judgment
• Strong communication skills
• Proactive problem-solving
• Ability to identify and escalate potential issues
• Strong organizational skills
• Ability to work autonomously
• Professional and collaborative personality
Software & Tools:
• Microsoft Word
• DocuSign, RightSignature, or similar electronic signature platforms (preferred)
• SharePoint or similar document management systems (preferred)
Schedule:
Full-time position
East Coast / U.S. business hours
Remote
Salary and Benefits:
• Payment in USD or Local Currency according to candidate's preference.
• Full-time remote opportunity.
