Job Description:

The Underwriter is responsible for evaluating MCA and small business financing applications. This involves analyzing financial documents, assessing risks, and supporting senior underwriting staff with informed funding decisions. This fast-paced role requires strong attention to detail and analytical skills.

 

Core Responsibilities:

• Review merchant applications and financial documentation

• Analyze cash flow trends and revenue consistency

• Identify risk indicators such as NSFs, negative days, and existing MCA obligations

• Calculate key metrics including average monthly revenue and payment capacity

• Input and review data within CRM and underwriting systems

• Run internal scoring models and escalate high-risk files

• Verify merchant information and conduct basic fraud checks

• Ensure compliance with underwriting standards and guidelines

• Collaborate with ISO Relations, Sales teams, senior underwriters, and Operations team

• Manage and prioritize deal submissions and maintain accurate records

 

Required Experience and Qualifications:

• 0–2 years of experience in underwriting, finance, banking, or MCA (entry-level candidates welcome)

• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills

• High attention to detail with proficiency in Excel and data review

• Ability to work in a fast-paced, metrics-driven environment

 

Preferred Skills:

• Experience in MCA or alternative lending

• Familiarity with bank statement analysis

• Experience using CRM or underwriting platforms

• Understanding of small business financials
