Job Description:
Our Client is seeking a personable and persistent Collections Agent to manage automated daily ACH/withdrawal exceptions and contact merchants to resolve declined payments while maintaining positive client relationships. The position starts as part-time, with the potential for strong performers to transition to full-time after one month.
Responsibilities:
• Monitor daily automated dashboard of merchant clears/declines and review decline reasons (e.g., insufficient funds, closed account).
• Execute outreach cadence: phone calls, emails, SMS based on decline reasons using automated templates.
• Call merchants to understand issues, negotiate payment remedies or temporary arrangements, and secure recoveries.
• Escalate accounts when necessary and document outcomes in CRM.
• Be persistent in outreach and adapt approach to borrower temperament.
• Perform light administrative support: appointment scheduling, follow-ups, basic data entry.
• Use internal platforms/portals, Excel, and AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT) to draft correspondence and streamline workflows.
Required Experience and Qualifications:
• Excellent spoken and written English required.
• Comfortable and confident on the phone; able to build rapport quickly.
• Resilient temperament and able to handle occasional hostility with professionalism.
• Strong interpersonal skills; empathy and a customer-first mindset.
• Reliable, punctual, and self-motivated.
• Proficient with CRMs, web platforms, and basic Excel.
• Prior collections, customer service, or debt-recovery experience preferred but not required.

• Good judgment to propose reasonable payment arrangements.
