Our client is a leading manufacturer of components for medical devices. They operate in a highly regulated industry, adhering to ISO and FDA compliance standards. Currently, they are undergoing a critical transformation of a legacy internal software system that has been in use for over 25 years. This project will be pivotal in ensuring operational continuity and system modernization.
Job Description:
Our client is looking for a Senior Developer to support a systems modernization initiative. The primary focus will be to perform reverse engineering on an internal business-critical application built on Microsoft Access, create documentation, and support its migration toward a more sustainable solution, potentially using SQL and web-based technologies. This is a 3 to 6-month project-based role with the possibility of extension. The position is remote-friendly but requires partial overlap with Eastern Standard Time (EST) business hours.
Responsibilities:
Perform reverse engineering of a Microsoft Access-based system integrated with SAP Business One.
Document existing database structure, workflows, and user authorizations.
Create a development environment for testing and user training purposes.
Identify and map out all system functionalities and logic flows.
Collaborate closely with the internal team to understand business processes and system requirements.
Support planning and execution of a phased migration from Microsoft Access to a modern SQL/Web-based platform.
Provide technical insights and recommendations based on business requirements.
Ensure all development practices comply with ISO and FDA standards for regulated industries.
Required Experience and Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in software development, with specific experience working with Microsoft Access.
Strong understanding of database design, reverse engineering, and migration strategies.
Experience developing and documenting legacy systems.
Familiarity with SAP Business One integrations or similar ERP systems.
Fluency in Spanish (written and spoken); English reading comprehension sufficient for documentation.
English Level: B1
Preferred Skills:
Experience migrating systems from Microsoft Access to SQL and/or web-based technologies.
Knowledge of compliance and documentation requirements in regulated industries (e.g., medical devices, pharmaceuticals).
Background in supporting internal business applications for manufacturing environments.
Personality:
Detail-oriented and analytical, with strong problem-solving skills.
Able to work independently while maintaining close collaboration with stakeholders.
Proactive communicator and comfortable documenting complex legacy systems.
Comfortable working in flexible schedules and adapting to evolving project priorities.
